Project Overview
Background
A client was interested in building a website for their new blog/service. They wanted to make sure we can launch in phases. The main goal for this website is to help people who are interested in using their miles for traveling or gaining points to purchase hotel stays, know the best possible way to utilize those perks. There are tricks and tips that most people don’t know. This will start out as a blog with the hope of bringing revenue through ads, services, and products in the future.
Problem
While doing a competitive analysis, I found that there are many blogs and self-help tips online already. This will be hard to make sure this website gets enough traffic and be able to compete with other consultants/bloggers. One main problem we saw on those websites was the way the content was laid out, user interface was not helpful, and how chaotic it feels. Together with the client, we came up with the vision board that helped us nail down the branding, concepts, and more.

Concepts
Concept 1: Five column grid articles
The heart of Miles Mastery is sharing tricks and tips through articles/blog posts. While this website is still growing and might take a while before they can monetize the content/service, we wanted to make sure people are engaged in the content and found them to be helpful even when they are not traveling or owning a credit card.
Concept 2: Article + Short description
A client would like to see a concept with more description of the article instead of having images being the main communicator of what the article is about.
Concept 3: Illustration based interface
We explored the potential of having illustrations being our main focus to avoid any legal issues on some images and credit card specific images. This also served as a point of interest and create a completely new experience for users. By using these illustrations, the homepage feels much more friendly, fun, and interesting while talking about a topic that many find intimidating, overwhelming, and out of reach.
